Recently, the Win-Win for Vietnam project in collaboration with VB4E organised two 2-day training courses on “Initiating Collaborative Actions for Carbon Emissions Reduction” in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City (Viet Nam). More than 80 representatives from companies and civil society organisations (CSOs) have participated in the two training.
The training courses revolve around sustainable business development trends linked to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), carbon reduction strategies, carbon accounting, carbon credits, as well as collaborative initiatives to create shared values between businesses and CSOs. The training was conducted by experienced international experts in sustainable development, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), CSV (Creating Shared Value), climate action and climate mitigation. Additionally, some guest speakers from enterprises and CSOs also shared their practical experiences and the general context in Vietnam and internationally regarding carbon emissions reduction and collaborative value creation initiatives for climate action and mitigation.
Combining resources through partnerships between businesses and CSOs allows partners to achieve more and create shared values for both the implementing partners and the society as well as the environment compared to operating alone. Ms Chau Bui emphasised, “Cooperation between businesses and CSOs is a powerful tool to tackle sustainability challenges. However, during the collaboration process, each party should know their own boundaries and preserve their own values and identities for a sustainable partnership.”
The Win-Win for Vietnam project is jointly implemented from September 2020 – February 2024, by the Institute for Research on Development Communication (RED) – lead organisation (Vietnam) and Pro NGO! e.V. (Germany), and co-funded by the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam.
